INFORMATION ABOUT TECHNICAL & SESSION COOKIES pursuant to Art. 13 of Legislative Decree 196/2003

The rules governing the use of so-called “Cookies” and other similar tools (web beacon/web bug, clear GIF, ecc.) in users’ terminals (personal computer, notebook, tablet pc, smartphone, ecc.) has recently been amended following implementation of Directive 2009/136 which amended the “e-Privacy” Directive (2002/58/CE) and the measure "Identification of simplified procedures for giving information and acquiring consent for the use of cookies - 8th May , 2014". This site uses cookies to make our services simple and efficient for users who view its pages. This information is provided only for this site and all second-level domain sites and sub-domains. Users who view the site will have minimal amounts of information stored in the terminals they use, whether desktop computer, notebook or mobile device, in small text files called “cookies” in directories used by the user’s web browser. There are various types of cookies, some to make use of the site more efficient and to improve the browsing experience of the user, others to enable other specific features. You can find more information about cookies at the following URL:

Technical Cookies

This type of cookie allows the correct operation of certain sections of the website. This website only uses technical cookies, that is those used for the sole purpose of “carrying out the transmission of a communication over an electronic communications network, or as strictly necessary in order for the provider of an information society service explicitly requested by the subscriber or user to provide the service” (see Art. 122, paragraph 1 of the Code). They are not used for other purposes and are usually installed by the owner or operator of the website. They can be sub-divided into browsing and session cookies, which guarantee the normal navigation and use of the website (allowing, for example, to make purchases or authenticate access to restricted areas):

  • Analytics cookies are technical cookies used directly by the site operator to collect information, in aggregate form, about the number of users and how they use the site.
  • Functional cookies allow the user to navigate the site according to a set of selected criteria (e.g. language or products selected for purchase) in order to improve the service made available for the user.

Users' prior consent is not necessary to install these cookies, whilst information under Section 13 of the Code has to be provided in the manner considered to be most appropriate by the website manager – if only such cookies are relied upon.

The acquisition and the processing of the data arising from the use of technical cookies is required for full consultation of the site.

The acquisition and the processing of the data arising from the use of technical cookies is required for full consultation of the site. In case of opposition by the user to the use of these cookies, complete and correct consultation of the site is not possible.

Excluding technical cookies, the general rule for “The storage of information in the terminal equipment of a subscriber or a user or access to information already stored” remains that of prior informed consent of the user (opt-in).

This means that all cookies not classifiable as “technical”, which are the most critical from the point of view of protecting the privacy of users, such as those used for profiling and marketing, cannot be installed on the terminals of users if they have not previously been adequately informed and have not given valid consent.
