  • Do the telescopic enclosures need planning permission?

The telescopic coverings and enclosures for residential private facilities are removable without any permanent fixing to the ground. In Italy, for example, there is still no clear regulation in this regard; every Municipal Authority manages the issue autonomously and independently. It is therefore advisable to seek information from your local authority and, in the case of approval by relevant departments, the relevant documentation to be submitted. For medium and large size coverings and enclosures, of public and private use, you will be required to obtain a building permit.


  • Are ground guide tracks necessary?

For telescopic covers of size up to 5 metres wide a system of sliding and interconnection between the modules has been developed in order to avoid the installation of tracks on the ground. They are recommended, however, for enclosures of larger dimensions and are mandatory for very large installations. Ground guide tracks must also be installed when the covering or enclosure has an automated movement system. Each project is evaluated individually according to the size of the pool, enclosure model, any chosen optional, geographical area and type of paving to decide whether or not if the installation is necessary.


  • What is the difference between alveolar and compact polycarbonate?

Compact polycarbonate has the aesthetic characteristics of glass: a sheet of transparent material 4 mm thick. Alveolar polycarbonate is a sheet composed of two layers of material separated by perpendicular cell walls which increase insulation and retain the heat formed inside the covering during the day.


  • Can the polycarbonate be damaged by hail?

Polycarbonate is an extremely resistant material that can be subjected to extreme weather conditions. In a test developed by the Dutch research institute TNOsamples of polycarbonate were subjected to simulated hailstones with a diameter up to 30 mm fired at a speed of 50 metres per second without substantial damage.


  • Does the polycarbonate yellow over time?

The special polycarbonate which we use undergoes anti-UV treatment on both sides that inhibits yellowing.


  • How to clean a telescopic enclosure.

Telescopic enclosures can be washed with a solution of mild household detergent and warm water, and then rinsed with water.
It is essential to avoid using aggressive detergents, abrasive cloths or other abrasive instruments.


  • Can the polycarbonate scratch or get damaged during clearing?

Polycarbonate is a material highly resistant to impact yet has a surface that scratches fairly easily.
We therefore recommend cleaning it with a mild detergent diluted with water, thus avoiding the use of aggressive detergents.
Alternatively, you can choose a special scratch-resistant polycarbonate.


  • By how many degrees does the telescopic enclosure increase water temperature?

Telescopic enclosures exploit the greenhouse effect to warm the environment beneath and may increase the air temperature by about 15° to 18° and the water temperature by to 10°.


  • Is it normal that condensation forms on the inside of the enclosure?

Condensation is a normal effect caused by the temperature difference of air inside and outside of the enclosure. It can be eliminated by the use of openings installed on the walls of the structure. For very large facilities an air handling system may be necessary.


  • Can the telescopic enclosure bear the force of wind and snow?

Helianthus telscopic enclosures have passed load tests and so the answer is yes.
It is necessary to choose the right model according to the size of the pool and geographical area of installation of the structure.
The choice of the section of the aluminium profile is fundamental. Our wide range of profiles from 55 mm up to 240 mm can provide the ideal solution for any need.
Each module is secured with knurled pins embedded into the flooring, which offer greater resistance to gusts of wind. In case of strong winds, we recommended attaching the enclosure to the flooring by screwing in the pins and keeping the openings of the structure firmly closed. In case of particularly intense snowfall, remove the layer of snow from the modules, collect together the covering and secure it to the ground with the dedicated pins.


  • By how many months does the telescopic enclosure extend the swimming season?

With a telescopic enclosure the pool can be used even in autumn and spring, thus prolonging the swimming season to up to 4-6 months, depending on climatic area.


  • Why cover the pool with a telescopic enclosure?

A telescopic enclosure allows an extended use of the pool during the year and helps keeping it clean by protecting it from the weather and contamination. In addition, by filtering out UV rays, the enclosure limits the growth of algae. The installation of a telescopic enclosure increases safety in the use of the pool by preventing children from entering the water alone thanks to the structure being equipped with safety locks on the modules and key locks on the entrance doors. .


  • How long does it take to deliver and install?

For private residential enclosures, delivery times vary from 40 to 60 days and installation from 1 to 2 days depending on size.
